What is a Sound Meditation?
What is the difference between a Sound Meditation,Sound Bath or Gong Bath we are often asked?
In essence, nothing as they are different titles given to very similar events.
The "bath" part has in fact, nothing to do with tubs or water, but an immersion in beautiful sounds and vibrations that are healing for your body, mind and spirit. It is a deeply relaxing, meditative experience which can take you on a journey of deep relaxation, healing and self discovery. Everything in the Universe, including our body, is composed of vibrations. Every organ and every cell in our body vibrates at a particular frequency. Sound and vibration travels up to five times more effectively through water and as the human body is made up of over 70% water the sound and vibration can effect us at a deep cellular level.
A sound meditation can provide you with a meditative experience, without having to know how to meditate.
For the Sound Meditation, you just lie down and get yourself comfy on a yoga mat, with a cushion under your head, covered with a comfy blanket , close your eyes and allow the healing sounds and vibrations to wash over and through you helping you to achieve some deep relaxation and rest and help wash away all your stress, tension, and cares.
If mobility is a problem, no problem as you can also take part seated.
Time is suspended as you enter a world of vibration, sensation and experience. Physical injuries can be helped and old emotional traumas released. Great insights can be accessed. You feel truly, vibrantly alive. Once you’ve had your first Sound Bath you’ll most certainly want more.
At the start, I will lead you in a short guided-meditation to help prepare your body and mind for the experience which follows. You will then experience the healing power of Nepalese Singing Bowl Gongs and Bowls, Shamanic Drums, Bells and other worldly vibrational instruments that maybe brought along, as well as silence, as that is an integral part of the sound meditations.
Each Sound Meditation will be different, not only as I will be bringing different instruments ,but also how you are feeling at the time.
It is helpful to keep well hydrated the day before attending or on the day itself if the sound bath is taking place later in the day. and please wear loose,comfortable clothing and layers and bring along a bottle of water for afterwards.
Most importantly though, is too come along with an open heart and mind.
